COVID-19 Updates


For eighty-two years, YMCA Camp Tockwogh has provided campers of all ages with a safe place to have fun, make new friends, challenge themselves, and explore the outdoors.  While we will continue this tradition for many summers to come, it is with a heavy heart that we announce Camp Tockwogh will not run in the summer of 2020. 

This is a decision that has not been made lightly. We have worked hard to plan for a great summer with new health and safety protocols in place and have vigorously advocated at the local and state level for approval to open camp. However, the state of Maryland’s reopening plan does not allow overnight camps to operate at this time, and we do not have any positive signs this will change with sufficient time to prepare camp for your child. We understand this comes as a great disappointment and know that we share in your sadness. Now, we must look ahead to the future of camp and the summer of 2021. We will miss you but hope you will join us next year!

Will you be holding summer camp in 2020?

Unfortunately, Camp Tockwogh will be closing our gates for summer 2020.  We understand this comes as a great disappointment and know that we share in your sadness.  We will miss you, are looking forward to the future, and can’t wait to see you in 2021!

What has led to this decision?

The state of Maryland’s reopening plan does not allow for overnight camps to operate at this time.

Will I be refunded for my camper session if I already paid?

Yes. Please click the correct link below to choose how you would like your deposit allocated. We are offering three options:

  • You can choose to donate your deposit to our COVID Response Fund, so that we can continue to provide quality programs for years to come. If you choose to donate your deposit, your spot in summer 2021 will be guaranteed.
  • You can rollover your deposit to 2021 which will guarantee your spot for next summer.
  • You can choose to be issued a full refund.

It is my campers last year to attend camp. What are their options?

We are hosting a Camper Reunion Weekend this October and plan to have our special second year Sioux/Ute events at that time.  We encourage all rising 10th graders to apply for our LIT program for summer 2021!  Current deposits can be transferred to the 2021 LIT program, but acceptance will be pending applications and interviews.  Your spot in the program will be held until the first round of acceptances are sent out in November.

2020 LITs are eligible for the CIT program in 2021.

2020 CITs are eligible to be staff or volunteer staff in 2021.

Will Camp Tockwogh be providing anything virtually this summer?

We have lots of fun things planned to keep our camp community engaged- all free of charge! Make sure to follow us on social media for updates.

Will you still be holding Summer’s End Family Camp?

Unfortunately, we are unable to run our end of summer family camp without our summer staff, equipment and facilities.
