Meet Our Team

Elizabeth “Liz” Staib King

Executive Director

Liz has been a part of Camp Tockwogh since her days as a camper in the 80s, and has been the Executive Director since 2008. She has also worked at YMCA Camp Erdman in Hawaii, YMCA of the Rockies in Colorado, and was a Program Director at Camp Tockwogh. Liz has two daughters that attend camp in the summer, and you can find their cat, Dusty roaming around camp too. She met her husband, Regan in 1995 while working at camp as a Chickasaw Village Chief (and he was Iroquois Village Chief). Liz loves ALL things camp, and can often be found singing along with the campers in their Dining Hall cheers. In her free time, you can find Liz cheering on her daughters from the sidelines of one of their many sports or attending live bluegrass shows.

Josh Gower

Camp Director

Josh has been a part of the camping world for the last 10 years, with the  four spent at Camp Tockwogh as the LIT Director and, more recently, as one of the Head Counselors for the three summers. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education/Special Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Lamar University in 2024. Before joining Camp Tockwogh full-time, Josh spent five years teaching elementary students in Delaware, working with 2nd-5th graders in both general and special education. Now, he is excited to start this new journey and continue making an impact at camp!

John Hughes

Facility Director

John Hughes has been a part of the YMCA of Delaware and YMCA Camp Tockwogh for many years, beginning his current role as Tockwogh’s Facilities Manager in 2001. He loves working with the Tockwogh team and spends his free time with his two poodles, Ruby and Barney.

James Del Monte

Program Director- Land and Media

James began working with Camp Tockwogh in 2018 as one of the camp photographers. In 2021, he returned to co-lead the oldest camper villages alongside his fellow director, Zoe Ryan. After spending a year as a microbiologist, he still found himself back at camp for weekend groups. In 2023, James returned to camp full-time, and in September 2024, he married his husband on Main Beach. Now, he lives at camp year-round with his husband and their two dogs, continuing to be a part of the place he loves!

Marisa Raffaele

Office Manager

Marisa has been working in our camp office since 2016. She is from Middletown, DE but has lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland since 2017 to be closer to camp. Marisa attended University of Delaware for Psychology and has previously worked at the Bear-Glasgow YMCA and Lower Bucks Family YMCA in Pennsylvania. Marisa’s favorite part of camp is that it is accessible to all – she loves working with our partner organizations to offer families scholarships. When she’s not at camp, you can find Marisa checking another national park off of her bucket list, cheering on Philadelphia sports teams, or spending time with her 5-year-old nephew! If you have any questions about your camper’s registration, you’ll likely get to talk to Marisa!

Zoe Ryan

Program Director- Retreats

Zoe Ryan has been coming to YMCA Camp Tockwogh since she was 9 years old, and it has always been a special place to her. She spent seven years as a camper before taking on roles in the teen leadership programs, as a cabin counselor, Ute Village Coordinator, LIT Coordinator, CIT Coordinator, Head Counselor, and now as the Retreats Director. Zoe graduated from the University of New Hampshire in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Event Management, along with a minor in Tourism Management. She also spent time working for a travel agency in Florence, Italy before returning to camp. Now, she is thrilled to step into this new role, fulfilling her dream of working at camp full-time!

He started full-time in January of 2023 and is excited for many more summers on the bay. Logan is from Newark, DE and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Marketing and Sport Management. His favorite part of camp is giving campers the opportunity to experience watersports for the first time. In his free time, he enjoys golfing with friends, hiking, and learning new recipes.
